Monday film discussion

There is still time to watch this month’s film selection and join in a discussion at Meet God at the Movies.

Our selection this month dominated this year’s Academy Awards and lends itself to theological probing at the group’s session at 6:30pm Monday, June 21.

Nomadland is a 2020 American drama film based on the 2017 non-fiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder. The film is written, edited, produced, and directed by Chloé Zhao, and stars Frances McDormand (who is also a producer on the film) as a van-dwelling working nomad who leaves her hometown after her husband dies and the sole industry closes down, to be "houseless" and travel around the United States. Register for Meet God at the Movies here.

Once registered, you will get reminders of movie nights and will not miss out on this engaging activity. Participants see the movie on their own, then gather for discussion, looking for themes of sin, repentance, and redemption.

Where can you stream Nomadland? It is free with a Hulu subscription and available to rent from several sites. Click here for information.
