Meet God at the Movies

The Meet God at the Movies discussion group will next watch Spotlight, the 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer.

The film follows The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative journalist unit in the United States, and its investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Roman Catholic priests.

It is based on a series of stories by the Spotlight team that earned The Globe the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. Read more here from Wikipedia.

Participants watch the movie on their own and come together on Zoom at 6:30pm on the third Monday of each month. The Spotlight discussion will take place on April 19. Register here.

Meet God at the Movies features a general check-in on the movie, and then plumbs for theological content within the themes of creation, sin, repentance, and redemption.

Where to watch? It is free to watch with your Netflix subscription, or you can find it for a modest rental fee here.
