Garden Guild workday

The Garden Guild asks for 3-5 volunteers to assist with a Columbarium work day, currently scheduled from 9:00am to 11:30am Saturday, March 6. Volunteers will be led by Emily Swartz, Pam Henderson, and Ayden Carrell, who will also be workers that day. Volunteers should plan on being masked and/or socially distanced if not from the same family unit.

Tasks will include weeding, possible shrubbery transplanting, pruning (as directed by Emily, Pam or Ayden), raking, sweeping, picking up debris, bagging, removing to dumpster. Ayden will do or direct any irrigation modifications.

Volunteers should dress for outside work, long sleeves and long pants, work shoes or boots, as plants can be scratchy. If you have garden tools, please bring them. The following tools will be needed. B&G has small quantities of the tools but not enough for 6 workers:

  • Regular shovel

  • Hand shovel

  • Pruning shears

  • Lopping shears

  • Hedge clippers

  • Rakes

  • Brooms

  • Blower (B&G will provide a corded one. If you have a battery one, bring it.)

  • Irrigation supplies (B&G will provide)

Chain saws and Sawzalls will NOT be necessary for this effort.

To sign up or for information, email Emily at ehswartz@hotmail.com. Pam or Ayden also can take in-person questions or sign-ups.

If more volunteers sign up than are needed this time, we will schedule another workday a bit later for those that don't get an opportunity to serve this time. Don't forget to bring yourself water.
