A ripple effect

Acts of sacrifice and decency without regard to what's in it for you create a ripple effect. Ones that lift up families and communities, that spread opportunity. —President Barack Obama

The Diocese of Arizona’s E-pistle last week (July 28, 2022) featured a story by Laurel Way, Director of Communications, about the Naco Wellness Initiative in Naco, Sonora Mexico.

Laurel toured the facility and learned about the community garden and wellness center. She was impressed by what the community has accomplished and inspired by the joy they demonstrate—for their cause and with each other.

Last Christmas, generous donors and volunteers from Saint Philip’s visited Naco with food boxes and bags full of toys. This trip was part of the church’s December tradition to help communities beyond the parish’s physical walls. In 2021, the Naco Christmas Project was one of Saint Philip’s beneficiaries. While a single act of outreach might be modest in the grand scheme of things, it nevertheless creates a ripple effect and often leads to more than what was imagined. Thanks again to all who supported last year’s Christmas initiative!
