Hotel update

Work for the new entrance to Saint Philip’s north parking lot is currently scheduled to start late February 2022. It may extend beyond that date depending on when Pima County inspectors approve the proposed plans. The good news is that Saint Philip’s will have unfettered use of the parking spaces through the holidays.

The north parking lot’s new entrance will move access just slightly more north so it aligns with the parking lot opening immediately across Campbell Avenue. This is a Pima County traffic safety requirement.

The current monument signs will be demolished and new ones of very similar design will be constructed at the new entrance site. The church is responsible for any new lettering or logos placed on the new monument signs.

All electricity and water infrastructure associated with the current entrance will be relocated to the new site. The current entrance asphalt and curbing will be removed. The newly exposed ground will be remediated for desert vegetation.

The hotel general contractor will stake the new entrance in advance of the start of its construction. Then, there will be further dialog to finalize the exact details of the new entrance design regarding traffic flow, sign construction, and related site construction details.

The improved driveway for ingress/egress to and from the three properties to the northeast of Saint Philip’s property will take place later during 2022. The agreed-to path for the driveway along the edges of the northern and western church property lines will be laid out in dirt during the first quarter 2022. Paving will occur a bit later.

As part of this work, a new driveway will also be constructed from Saint Philip’s northwest parking lot to the northeast parking lot—passing across the power line easement—aligned with the second row of the northwest parking lot.

All disturbed and remediated ground will be re-seeded with a desert vegetation mix. Desert plants will be moved or added to restore like-desert plantings appearances.

There will be no direct and immediate pathway to the hotel property from Saint Philip’s property.

All of the work outlined above will be paid for by the hotel, in accordance with the long-standing easement agreement between the two parties.
