Choral Evensong

This Sunday, November 21, the Saint Nicholas Choir and Schola Cantorum will sing Choral Evensong at Saint Philip’s In The Hills Church. The service will commence at 4:15pm with a substantial prelude of organ works by J. S. Bach by Dr. Jeffrey Campbell, followed by the choral liturgy at 4:30pm.

During this beautiful choral service, the choristers will sing some of the best and most beloved settings in our repertoire, including Herbert Howells’ Collegium regale (‘King’s College’) Evening Service. These canticles end with one of Howells most rousing Gloria Patri sections of all time, with a powerful melody and soaring descant. Listen to the Trinity College Choir sing that segment at Coventry Cathedral here:

Also, the anthem will be Bairstow’s famous Let all mortal flesh keep silence, a work that combines somberness and awe with an exuberant vision of the Glory of God’s presence. Here is the group Voces8 singing the anthem live:

Join us this Sunday for this wonderful service. Invite your friends and relatives!
