Blessings & community celebration

Saint Philip’s annual Blessing of the Animals and Community Lunch and Fair in honor of Saint Francis are just around the corner!

Mark your calendars and join us at 10;30am Saturday, October 9, to celebrate the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi by sharing in his love for all of God’s creation and all those in need!

The Blessing of the Animals liturgy starts at 10:30am in the Pet Memorial Garden and will be followed by lunch and a Community Resource Fair! In previous years, our community partners at the Fair have included organizations dedicated to animal welfare in our communities—this year, we’re expanding our vision of creation care to highlight organizations committed to the health of our waters, our land, and the native flora and fauna of the Sonoran desert.

We’ll also be continuing our practice of supporting the Pawsitive Friends Pet Food Bank organized by the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation by hosting a pet food drive for our HIV+ siblings who, in times of need or stress, are more likely to jeopardize their health and go hungry themselves than see their animals starve.

Bring your favorite animal friends for a blessing! Bring some pet food for the food drive to go to the favorite animal friends of folks in need! And join us as we celebrate the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi by living more fully into our call to care for creation!
