All Saints' Sunday

This season we have looked forward to performing the Saint Philip’s Missa Brevis, newly composed by the Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, and comissioned by Corky Gabbert. We initially hoped to hold the premiere on Sunday, November 7, All Saints’ Sunday.

However, given a multitude of reasons, including score delays and space limitations in the church during COVID, it has become increasingly clear that a premiere in November cannot happen. We will announce a postponement date—possibly in the spring of 2022—as soon as possible.

In the meantime, our combined adult choirs have returned to live singing at services, and we anticipate having choral music on All Saints’ Sunday. The choirs will sing movements from the Messe Solennelle by Louis Vierne (1870-1937), O how glorious is the kingdom by Basil Harwood (1859-1949), and the much-loved O salutaris hostia by Ēriks Ešenvalds (b. 1977). These rousing works will allow the choir to sing with our lovely Holtkamp organ and to space out sufficiently in the choir stalls.

We look forward to serving at future choral services and seeing you there!
