Bricks

Saint Philip’s labyrinth and pet memorial projects were made possible—and continue to be maintained—by volunteers and donors. Parishioners can purchase commemorative bricks to honor a person (living or deceased) or to memorialize a special event; those bricks are placed in the labyrinth. Bricks purchased to honor a pet (living or deceased) are added to the pet memorial.

Both projects are funded with donations and do not impact Saint Philip’s operating budget. Indeed, parishioner donations of bricks have generated a surplus for ongoing maintenance and donations to charitable organizations in the Tucson community and nationally, including a recent $5,000.00 donation to Saint Philip’s Outreach Ministry to support Saint Philip’s Food Pantry and Interfaith Community Services.

The arrival of cooler temperatures is a wonderful invitation to beautify the labyrinth and pet memorial areas. They need only 2-3 hours of attention every month, and it’s meaningful work that can be enjoyed in the company of other parishioners. Please email Tom Cross (tom.cross.tus@gmail.com) if you are interested in helping.

Or maybe you would like to purchase a commemorative brick? COVID-19 restrictions prevent volunteers from selling the bricks at a table in the Perry Garden but they can be ordered by contacting Tom Cross at tom.cross.tus@gmail.com.

COVID has also interrupted the monthly full-moon labyrinth walks but the community of prayer-walkers will resume its gatherings in the future.
