Way of Love art exhibit goes virtual

Last October, the Murphey Art Gallery Committee sent a “Call to Artists” to create their visual interpretation of our theme, The Way of Love, inspired by our Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's "Rule of Life."

We posed the question to Tucson artists: what is their Rule of Life? We asked them to consider topics such as the despair of others, including asylum seekers, the homeless, the opioid crisis, climate change, and anything that inspires them to create their art; or perhaps inspiration from their personal journey, their loved ones, or the beauty they see around them.

More than 40 talented Tucson artists responded to the Call, and our original plan was to display their art in the Murphey Gallery at Saint Philip's in April 2020. Well, COVID 19 prevented that from taking place!

In order for the artists to display their art we are excited to announce that their work will be exhibited on a "Virtual Way of Love Exhibit,” on Sunday, October 4. A link will be provided once the exhibit opens. The exhibit will continue through October 31, so you will be able to see the art at your leisure, and share with your family and friends not just in Tucson, but all over the USA, even the world.

Andrew Rush, a former associate professor of art at the University of Arizona, printmaker, sculptor, artist and founder of the "Drawing Studio" in Tucson, will be the Juror for the Show.

We hope you enjoy and support this Virtual Exhibit and we will keep you informed regarding when the Murphey Gallery will be "back in business" with incredible art displayed on the walls.
