Choir Season starts soon

All of us in the choir community here at Saint Philip’s are looking forward to the beginning of a new choir season, starting in September. The pandemic brought the spring choir term to a conclusion just as we were heading into Holy Week and Easter, the busiest musical season of the year. The loss of musical fellowship has been felt by all of us, and we have felt no small anxiety as we look to the future of choral singing in our services.

Dr. Jeffrey Campbell (assistant music director and organist) and I are excited to announce that we are participating in a new web-based choir system, called “My Choral Coach,” which has been designed by the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA). This system will allow our choristers to meet together via Zoom, receive and view scores, listen to audio versions of the music, and even record their own parts. We hope that this new tool will help us continue to work and sing until live choral singing resumes.

Have you thought about joining choir? Why not join this fall? This is a perfect time to try something novel, to learn useful skills, and to meet some new friends. Our choristers love to welcome new singers, too. If you are interested, feel welcome to contact me. We can set a time to talk about starting in September.
