'Community' sets Holy Cross Day prayer vigil

The Community of the Gospel--a non-residential religious community with standing in The Episcopal Church--comprises about 60 vowed monastics and Friends of the Community across the United States and the Caribbean.

Over a period of 24 hours on Holy Cross Day, the Community — joined by members’ parishes, families, and friends — will lament the 400-year history of racist violence in the USA and will pray for those carrying this cross today.

The prayer chain will begin at 12:00am on Monday, September 14, and will conclude 24 hours later at midnight.

Participants are invited to sign up for one or more hourly prayer slots throughout the day. The offering of lamentations and prayers will begin with a simple thirty-minute Zoom community service at 8:00pm on the eve of Holy Cross Day, Sunday, September 13.
