Joys and Fears of Aging

Every Thursday from 1:00pm-2:30pm participants gather via Zoom to share stories and reflect on aging. The small group shares stories and everyone is reminded that each new day is full of possibilities and gifts. Old roles can be shed and humor and silliness are encouraged. At the same time, if someone is worried about the unknown, then that is ok, too.

The 90 minute discussion follows a format:
—Opening prayer
—A discussion about a chapter from a book that guides the topic
—Stories (funny and serious) are shared
—An occasional guest speaker attends
—Closing prayer

On Thursday, August 18, guest speaker, Nicole Thomas of Dementia Capable of Southern Arizona—which is part of Pima Council on Aging—will make an hour-long presentation called “Dementia Friend.”

Beginning on September 1, a new book will inform the conversations. It will be Falling Upward by Fr Richard Rohr.

If you are interested in attending the guest presentation or the group discussion, contact parishioner and parish nurse, Carol Jones, to receive the Zoom link. Her email address is parishnurse@stphilipstucson.org.
