Shrove Tuesday is upon us! Keep the day with an online liturgy of the Burning of the Palms and the Burying of the Alleluias!

This day marks the end of Carnivaltide and the Season after Epiphany while dramatically reorienting our hearts to the Lenten fast. The ashes of the palms burned in the liturgy are those contained in the Ash Wednesday packets available outside the church, and the Alleluias are buried as a sign of our preparations for Lent during which the word “Alleluia” is not said liturgically…but on Easter, the Alleluias are unburied again and shouted and sung once more with gusto!
