Retreat with the Very Rev'd Tracey Lind: "Dementia from the Inside Out"

The Very Rev. Tracey Lind and her spouse Emily Ingalls travel across North America sharing the insights they've gained from a life complicated by dementia. A retired Episcopal priest, activist and community organizer, Tracey was diagnosed with the early stages of Frontotemporal Degeneration in fall of 2016.

Over the last three years, Tracey has transformed her dementia diagnosis into a ministry. She and Emily speak on "Dementia from the Inside Out," honest conversations and learnings based upon their own story, helping communities of faith develop resources to better prepare for ministry with all those affected by dementia: those who are diagnosed, their family members, and their wider communities.

* What are the best practices of pastoral care for those with dementia? What pastoral care resources can our communities offer to caregivers of people with dementia?

* How can we ensure that a dementia diagnosis does not isolate people from all their ministries and gifts?

* What concrete steps can our churches make, in terms of our worship, buildings, and community practices, to ensure that we offer people with dementia hospitality?

* Where can we find the loving presence of God in living with dementia?

Tracey and Emily will offer a special retreat on Saturday, February 1 in the Murphey Gallery (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and be our guest preacher on Sunday, February 2, when she will also offer a forum at 10:15 a.m. The retreat and forum are open to the public, with a suggested donation of $15 to $25.
