Choir season under way

Three adult choirs and our youth choir have begun practices, as of the first week in September! Through the summer months, we have been anticipating the beginning of choir season and arranging technical solutions to allow our choirs to meet, rehearse, and record virtually. We are now two weeks into that process, and I am already encouraged at the results.

The choristers are all learning to create digital audio recording of their voices using various musical guides. These processes involve technical challenges, and I’m pleased our choristers are making a great effort to learn new skills and contribute their voices.

Each Sunday, a different choir will present an anthem at Morning Prayer, as well as one of the hymns. Last Sunday, the Canterbury Choir recorded our motet Christus factus est by Felice Anerio. It was challenging, but also great fun to compile many different recordings into a final project!

This week, the Saint Philip’s Singers will record the anthem, and next week the Saint Nicholas Choir will be joined by the Schola Cantorum.
