Sacred Ground set to start

Saint Philip’s now has two Sacred Ground groups that will begin meeting next week and continue into February.  Both are being co-facilitated by Mtr Paula Barker Datsko and Alex Swain, one of last year’s Beloved in the Desert corps members.

Developed by the Episcopal Church, Sacred Ground uses documentary films to stimulate personally transformative discussions on race and faith. Please pray for all participants embarking on this pilgrimage together: traveling through scenes of our national history of racial engagement, reflecting on how that history has shaped our own lives, and “taking off our shoes” on the sacred ground where God’s reconciling power inspires new possibilities. Follow this link to more information about Sacred Ground.

Sacred Ground is an additional offering at Saint Philip’s intended to help participants explore the extensive roots of racism in our culture. We already have, and will continue, Sunday afternoon discussions of books related to anti-racism and attendant issues such as voter suppression. These sessions are facilitated by Fr Henry Hoffman, Shirin McArthur, and Mtr Mary Trainor.
