The Rev’d Absalom Jones
The Rev’d Absalom Jones was the first black Episcopal priest, and his official feast day will be celebrated by the church on Tuesday, February 13.
Saint Philip’s will host the Arizona Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) on Saturday, February 24 for a worship service at 11:00am and a reception afterward.
The guest preacher will be Dr Deborah Harmon Hines, retired Vice Provost of Services and Professor of Radiology and Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Chan School of Medicine, and the first lay president of the Union of Black Episcopalians.
