Art tour

Over the years, Saint Philip’s has been gifted extraordinary pieces of sacred art and artifacts. The Sacred Arts Committee oversees the preservation of these treasures so future generations can be drawn closer to the beauty of God through them.

This Sunday, April 14, Susan Hayes, a member of the Sacred Arts Committee, will offer a tour of some of the pieces in Saint Philip’s collection. You are invited to gather inside the church at the Great Doors at 10:30am.

About Saint Philip’s Sacred Arts Committee
Saint Philip’s art is first and foremost a way of giving glory to God. It is an expression of each artist’s best efforts to capture some glimpse of the holy that can be shared in wood, stone, and paint. The Sacred Arts Committee helps parishioners be inspired by those glimpses and to find new ways of experiencing God’s beauty.

The committee meets regularly during the year to both consider the preservation of the current collection and to look at possibilities for new artwork. In 2019 the parish hosted a gallery show titled, “Treasures of Saint Philip’s.” There is also a brochure that offers details about the sacred art at Saint Philip’s. Both are examples of what the Sacred Arts Committee does.
