During the last decade, the Latvian choral tradition has exploded onto the international music scene. Saint Philip's Choirs and Chamber Orchestra will perform a stunning new passion by the Latvian composer, Ēriks Ešenvalds. His Passion and Resurrection tells the familiar biblical story, but through a distinctively female perspective, embodied here by the angelic voice of Mary Paul. Pēteris Vasks’ Plainscapes and Gerald Finzi’s Eclogue for Piano and Strings – led from the piano by Justin Appel – round out an atmospheric, moving program.
This is a ticketed fund-raising event that will support our Saint Nicholas Choristers’ residency at Ely Cathedral this summer. Tickets are $40 per person. Students are free with ID. Reception will follow the event.
