Free wi-fi access

The City of Tucson is providing wireless access to members of the community to support remote learning, telework, and access to virtual services. Due to funding limitations, the program only has 5,000 routers available for distribution. The applicant must:

o   live in a coverage area

o   be 18 or older as of October 31, 2020

o   must have experienced financial hardship due directly to COVID

o   must have a household member who meets one of the following criteria: 

§  Is a school age child or enrolled college student who is remote schooling at least 1 day a week and requires internet connectivity 

§  Is 60 years of age or older 

§  Has a health condition that puts them in the COVID high-risk category. 

Application processing started December 9, and the application period will close on December 21. Notification of application approval will go out to applicants during the week of December 31, 2020. Internet services will be available until December 31, 2021 to those who qualify and are selected through an application process. This Community Wireless Program is paid for through funds received from the Federal CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund.
